Rotten Tomatoes has become the accepted barometer when trying to figure out if a movie is worth dropping your hard-earned cash on. For the last couple days, Get Out sat on top of the “tomatometer” as it obtained 143 “fresh” reviews, each reviewer giving the movie a high rating. For those of you keeping track at home, that means the movie had a perfect 100 percent rating; something unheard of during this day-in-age when internet trolls roam freely.
The positive hype surrounding the movie drove scores of people to the theater this weekend to see what writer/director Jordan Peele’s horrific mind conjured up. So many people went to see #GetOut that the movie skyrocketed to No. 1 at the box office, raking in over $33 million and knocking The Lego Batman Movie to No. 2.
Things were looking good for Get Out until Rotten Tomatoes reviewer Armond White went against the grain (as he always does) and rated the movie a green-squashed tomato, dropping Get Out to a 99 percent rating.
